Our First Baseball Tournament - Bardstown Summer Heat - July 24 - July 25

Shelbyville Elite... we had our first baseball tournament "Summer Heat" this past weekend and it was very exciting for everyone.. It was held at Dean Watts Park in Bardstown, Kentucky.. It was a very hot day.. I believe the high got up to about 100.. The boys were very excited, just as the parents were!! As you can see from the picture below the boys were eager to watch a game when we first got there...

Our first game was against Henry County Saturday at 2:00 pm.. We started off great but Henry County ended up winning 11 to 1...

Our next game was against Nelson County at 6:00 p.m. and the boys were super pumped for this game.. We did a great job.. The boys hit the ball so well.. Manny hit a in the park home run, Brice hit a triple and Hunter had 3 great hits.. Bradley took one for the team, right in the sheen and had a lovely bruise to go along with it. All the boys ended up getting on base.. We ended up winning this game 12 to 4... They were on cloud nine.. Everyone could not wait until the next day to start over...

So Sunday is here and we are ready... ready to take on Fern Creek.. The boys are excited.. Parents ready to watch their boys play some ball!! What a great game... Blake started out pitching and he did an awesome job... The boys had some awesome plays but they got the best of us... We ended up losing 8 to 4.. But the boys did an awesome job!!!! We are ready for the next tourney!!

Jacobs BIG Fish...

We were sitting around and thinking of what to do and then we say "Let's go to Osprey Cove and go fishing"... So we packed up all of our stuff and off we went.. We go there and put hooks on our line, some of us were lizard fishing and others worm fishing.. Jacob starting out lizard fishing and then got tired of it, so he started worm fishing.. throwing out.. reeling in... throwing out... reeling in... See Jacob is not really patient with fishing.. But then all of a sudden you see Jacob really struggling to get one in.. Robert looked over there and saw a big splash and was like OMG.. Robert takes off like his pants are on fire.. Almost falls on his face to get over there to help Jacob.. They are pulling it in and what is it you say.... It is a bass... A BIG one... it is a 6.5 pound bass.. WHAT?? Really?? Robert is so excited for Jacob he calls his parents and tell them to bring a cooler so we can keep it for Jacob to get mounted... We are waiting and waiting and they have not come yet with the cooler.. So I jump in the Kia to go to the gas station to buy one of them cheap coolers so we can keep it alive until we get to the taxidermist.. I finally get back and Robert is rushing around and trying to get water in it, breaks the top of the cooler but we finally get it in there.. WOW.. I mean it is a big bass!! His parents finally get there with the cooler we get it in there and that is all Robert can talk about.. He is so proud of his little man, Jacob!!! What an exciting story for him to tell years down the road.. Here are a few pictures of his BIG fish :-)

Another fun filled day with all of us together :-)

So Saturday morning we got up and Robert said "Why don't we go to the Wildlife Park in Frankfort"... I was like that is a GREAT idea.. So we started getting all of our stuff together, made our lunches and got our fishing poles.. We got the boys and off we went to the Park.. We got there and went inside and looked around at all of the neat attractions...  Here are a few pictures.

Then we were off to see the animals outside.. We saw a Wildcat, Buffalo, Deer, Dragonfly Swamp and so on.. By this time we were all hungry.. so we got out packed lunches and sat down and ate them.. Yum-O!!!

Time to Fish.. We all enjoy fishing.. Jacob has not been fishing in a few years but he caught right back on..  Here are some pictures of them fishing..  See the sweet picture of Jacob and Dad.. so cute!!

The boys wanted to as well play in the creek looking for craw daddies.. So they did that for a long time.. moving rocks.. looking for them... moving rocks.. looking some more for them.. and so on.. LOL

So here is my funny story!!  There were geese "everywhere" and I thought I would take some pictures of them while I was standing there fishing.. Well.. let's just say they started to fly and I thought they were coming STRAIGHT for me.. So I turned around to run but of course I was on a slick rock and my foot went "swoosh" BUT I caught myself.. Thank Goodness... Everyone thought I was a goner!! LOL

Here is one of me, of course watching them fish.. I did a bit of fishing that day as well, but the fish just did not want to cooperate with me!!!

Me and my baby always have a wonderful time taking the boys to do stuff and just enjoying each others company... Here are a few of us.. The love of my life Robert and me.. I enjoy every day we spend together!!

After our trip to the Wildlife park we went home and they wanted to go and catch some frogs..  From the sound and pictures of it they had a great time!!!

Robert took me later that night to catch frogs and this is me.. LOL - I mean who would have thought Erica catching frogs.. HA HA - I mean to do things with ALL boys you gotta get dirty every now and then...

We also enjoyed a great game of football as well.. We had a great time that day.. It was a fun filled day and all of us enjoyed it very much!!! I look forward to every time we all get a chance to be together!!

Our Weekend!!!

So this weekend we had a cub scout campout.. We went to Lake Shelby and had a wonderful time. We got there about 6:30 pm Friday and we set up our tent.. and then we got all of our stuff together and went fishing.. After all of that it was getting late and time for bed.. So we went to bed, well at least tried to sleep!! Umm... it was well cold and the ground was very hard and well we didn't sleep the greatest, but it was still a wonderful time.. So we got up the next morning and had our breakfast and coffee and got to fishing again :-) Then we played football with the boys and just hung out.. After that we left and went home and got cleaned up and went over to Robert's parents for a late Easter dinner and we spent some time with Robert's boys. We went fishing for a while and had a great time over there with them.. As always I had a wonderful time and here are some pictures of our wonderful weekend!!!

Time is Short.. poem

Time is Short (Poem)

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask "How are you?" do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores running through your head?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Ever told your child, we'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, and let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time to call and say "Hi"?
You'd better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift....
Thrown away...
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

Doctor Referrals...When, Where, What...???

So Bradley had his 6 month follow up appointment at the neurologist today for his migraines and well when we get there.. (not a very short trip I might add, 30 minutes there, 30 minutes to get him back to school and then 30 minutes to drive back down there to work.. So an hour and half of driving) they say do you have the referral.. WHAT, what do you mean "the referral"..??  We have been coming here forever and you have never asked about a referral before I told them... They said every 6 months the referral expires and you need a new one.. Well it is 2009 I might add and we have been coming here since 2007 and we have never been asked this question before.... So they look at the last referral and it says "2007".. I was like we came here 2 times last year and nothing was ever said, blah blah blah.. Soooooooo... they called my insurance company and they said well since it is over a year old now we need his PCP to do the referral ..  so then we had to call the PCP and get them to do a referral..  I mean honestly, isn't that "THEIR" job to follow up on that OR to make sure it is in the file the day before when they call to confirm my appointment.. So rather than it taking the normal 30 minutes.. We were in there more than an hour today..    So my thought is.... Do I need a referral to knock her out??
